whocat1.gif - 0.9 K I graduated in 1980 from Glasgow College of Technology (G Cal U) with a BA (Honours) in Social Sciences, my principle subjects were Economics and Politics. My final year dissertation was 'The Economic and Political Implications of Microchip Technology' and so started the process of conversion from an arts base to computer based employment. I spent a year TEFL in Greece and during 1981-1982 completed a PGCE at Jordanhill, teaching in a Paisley school thereafter to 1986. In 1986 I returned to study at Strathclyde taking a PG Dip in Business Information Technology Systems joining FE in 1987 where I have worked ever since moving through standard applications from Wordstar to Office 97 and DTP, Image manipulation and Multimedia creation 2D, 3D, NLE and Multimedia Authoring.

In 1993 I was fortunate to obtain a two year sabbatical and secured a post as Computer Co-ordinator in Nassau, Bahamas, setting up and teaching a variety of courses to students and staff. In year two of my escape from Scotland's weather I worked as an intern at San Francisco State University, Multimedia Studies Program where most of my experience in Multimedia was gained. Working on a AIR program compiling the photo/text work of Wright Morris to CD in conjunction with SFMOMA. I also worked as a Beta tester for Broderbund Software Living Books.

whocat2.gif - 0.9 K In 1998 my teaching responsibilities in CIS included Multimedia applications, Learning Technologies, Internet and Globalisation, Advanced Groupware and Multimedia developing courses for delivery to the undergraduate and post graduate cohorts. As an Authorised Training Provider for Director, (Flash, Dreamweaver and Drumbeat (Summer 2000)) I delivered short courses to industry and consulted small and medium sized companies in the introduction of web and ecommerce business solutions, setting up web sites and in house training of staff for self development. I was also involved as an electronic team member utilising ASP level development tools to deliver an online MBA by August 2000. During 2000 and 2007 I have become involved in the development of learning objects material through multimedia development in Macromedia and alternative authoring tools. Since 2005 I have ran a number of modules in the devlopment of projects in multimedia and developed into the use of 2D Animation - Toon Boom for the delivery of cartoon style animation films.

whocat3.gif - 0.9 K My main interest is still in the area of learning technology and the application of 'show and do' teaching methodologies, and the introduction of a non linear teaching approach that allows individuals to utilise all sorts of teaching aides to learn the way that best suits their particular needs, whether it be DL, FL, online or 'Talk and Chalk'. Implicit in this is the development of the Web, bulletin boards and intranets and other communication technologies that enhance the ability to access relevant up to date information world-wide. This has resulted in the creation of a Domino Server  with online teaching through the web.
